New York Scandia Symphony has served Washington Heights/Inwood with free outdoor music programs for 19 years in Fort Tryon Park! Bring a blanket and enjoy this free performance with backdrop views of the Hudson River. The festival takes place on June 4, 9 & 11.

The Scandia String Orchestra will perform a US Premiere of “Pastoral Impressions” for solo violin and Strings, a piece commissioned from Danish composer Nikolaj Hess. A popular piece by Scandia’s residence composer, Frank Foerster, “Summer in Fort Tryon Park” is also scheduled on this program. Danish composer Carl Nielsen is featured with two of his compositions for string orchestra, “Little Suite” and “Bohemian Danish Folksong Paraphrase.” A Baroque suite “Sinfonia” by Swedish composer Johan Helmich Roman will conclude the program.
