Free

Event Navigation

Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers and guests dress in medieval costume. Visitors are greeted by authentic period music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jugglers and jesters. The festival includes thrilling jousts between four knights on horseback. Experience the culture of a bygone era against the backdrop of The Met Cloisters and the Hudson River during autumn. There is fun for all ages.

This free event is produced by NYC Parks and the Washington Heights and Inwood Development Corporation with support from the Fort Tryon Park Trust.

Costumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts as well as food and drink.

Take the A train to 190th Street.  The Henry Hudson Parkway Fort Tryon Park exit will be closed to vehicular traffic during the Medieval Festival. For vehicle access, arrange to drop off at 741 Fort Washington Avenue/Margaret Corbin Circle. Most areas are wheelchair accessible, however, those with mobility issues may experience difficulty maneuvering on lawn areas. Please note: There are no ATMs on site.  To download the event schedule, go to: https://whidc.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/WHIDC-MEDIEVAL-FESTIVAL-PROGRAM-OCT-22.pdf
