Fort Tryon Kids: Nature Art Workshop – Leaf Rubbings

Bring your children or grandchildren to this online workshop series! All workshops are for children ages 5-8 and are led by naturalist and author Leslie Day, and artist and teacher Jessica Maffia.

Learn about the unique shapes of tree leaves found throughout Fort Tryon Park – oaks, maples, redbuds, elms, lindens, and more! Once you learn the name of the leaf, you’ll know the name of the tree! You’ll bring fallen leaves you have collected to the workshops, where we will explore their shape, lobes, toothed edges, and other features. The shape of the tree’s veins will emerge as you do your leaf rubbings and your artwork will showcase your exploration findings from the park. RSVP for Zoom details and a materials list HERE.
