Young artists will cast, carve and hand color a bas-relief sculpture in plaster. Bas-relief is a low relief carving technique that adapts well to depictions of landscape. Using images of the iconic Palisades as source material, young artists will learn to identify and separate planes of space and use simple carving techniques to create low relief sculptures. Finishing techniques include using water-based paints to tint plaster and texturization tools.
This program is supported by the Greenacre Foundation and the Fort Tryon Park Trust.
