Anne Loftus Playground is one of two recreational areas incorporated into the original Olmsted Brothers design of Fort Tryon Park, which opened as a New York City public park 86 years ago.
The playground is undergoing a $4.1M reconstruction by NYC Parks. Funded by Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez, the project will create a world-class water feature that is accessible to all, install a dynamic climbing structure, new adult fitness equipment, and a half basketball court. The project serves as a culminating feature in the Fort Tryon Park Trust’s decade-plus of the Broadway Initiative, which has consisted of restored drinking fountains, transformed landscapes and new greeting gardens, public programs, and engaging community stewardship.
