Join the Fort Tryon Tryon Park Trust, NYC Parks, and the Michels family to honor the late Council Member Stan Michels at the 15th Annual Stan Michels Memorial Jazz Concert. Enjoy live jazz by local musicians in the fresh air of Fort Tryon Park.
Stan Michels represented Northern Manhattan in the City Council for 24 years from 1978 through 2001. He was a steadfast advocate for parks, allocating over $50 million for park improvements in Washington Heights, Inwood, and Harlem, including virtually every playground in his district. The promenade was named in his honor shortly before he passed away on August 1, 2008.
