Fort Tryon Park offers free fitness programs for all levels of skill. In addition to year-round Fitness Walks, Fort Tryon Park Trust's summer fitness programs include Tai Chi, Sunset Yoga, and Parents & Me Yoga—all free! Join one or more of these programs for a healthy and fun way to enjoy this landmarked park. You can also play on the newly restored ping pong tables, volleyball courts, or use one of its 40 staircases for your workout. Additionally, the Trust offers periodic dance workshops and participates in the annual Hike the Heights event.
All programs are weather permitting; rain and temperatures below 20 F cancel. Please check the Upcoming Events calendar for program updates and changes.
How Many Things Can You Do on a Park Bench?
Probably you can do a lot more than you think! Fort Tryon Park’s Nancy Bruning has been leading outdoor fitness classes in the park since 2004. That’s plenty of time to create and fine tune exercises that stretch and tone your body... using no exercise equipment other than a park bench! These 101 exercises not only help you meet current healthy exercise recommendations–they add spice and challenge to your walks in the park. Curious? Take a look at “101 Things to Do on A Park Bench,” the video created by Nancy for the Fort Tryon Park Trust. Guaranteed to make you smile.
